MILITARY EXPERIENCE

This page is dedicated to my time in service with the Untied States Marine Corps. The experience I gained while in service to our country is a huge part of who I am today. The men and women that I served with will forever be my brethren.

This gallery showcases some of my favorite moments from my deployment with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit.

During my time in service, I developed a broad spectrum of skills. Everything that you would associated with a member of the armed services like various weapons usage, operational security, and military procedures. However, I also learned many skills that will benefit me as a Designer. I learned how to follow directions, how to lead those around me, to recognize the details that no one else sees, learned when I needed to speak out and when it was best to remain silent. I learned how to work with people whom hated me and how to inspire my team to want to be better.

I graduated with Honor's from the Marine Combat Training course in October of 2010 for having the highest GPA in my graduating battalion. Shortly after this, upon completion of the Motor Transportation Instruction Course in February of 2011, I was meritoriously prompted to Lance Corporal for again maintaining the highest GPA of my graduating class.

During my deployment with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unity (24th MEU) in 2012, I was placed on a review board for a meritorious promotion to Corporal. I competed against four of my peers. We were tested in multiple aspects to include, physical fitness, various Marine Corps knowledge, and other tests of honor and ability. I once again rose victorious over my peers and was meritoriously promoted for the second time in my career.

As a Corporal, I was place in charge of maintaining a fleet of over 120 vehicles and trailers. I ensure that these vehicles were kept up to standards and inducted into the maintenance cycle if they were not. After two months of hard and dedicated work, my team and I had increased our operational readiness from a dismal 65% to 95%.

In my final months within the  Marine Corps, I shifted my focus from the day to day operations to the individual Marines themselves. I strove to find the junior Marines with the most potential that could take my place once I left active duty. I mentored these individuals to ensure that they would surpass the high standards that Marine Corps expects of its service men and women. Not only did I ensure that they could perform all of the tasks related to our job field but I also ensured that they where sound morally and ethically. I became the leader that everyone went to for consul with their problems from their personal lives.

Ultimately, my time with the Marine's came to an end. I believe that I left it in good hands of a younger generation that I had the honor to help shape. While I miss the comradery that came with being an active Marine, it was not what I wanted to continue to do with my life. I am honored to be able to have served my country and call all Marines my brethren.
