CHRONOS TEST RESULTS

After compiling our Testing Plan, we selected our test subjects and conducted our test. The following is the Executive Summary of our report. The full report can be found at the attached PDF file located at the bottom of this page.

Executive Summary

For this test we chose five casual gamers to use as our testing pool. The tests were conducted December 14th through December 17th , 2015. The method used to conduct the tests was the Think-Aloud method. The purpose behind these tests is to identify and document existing issues within the game. We have also provided our recommended solutions to these issues as well.

The key concern determined during our play tests is that the game tutorial is incomplete. It does not cover how the player can use items, switch between different items, or jump. The players feel that there is not enough clear direction given during the different levels to know exactly what needs to be done. Additionally, the Journal still feels like it is not being used to its full potential.

We recommend altering the tutorial section of the game so that it covers the missing areas, giving the player a complete knowledge of the controls used for the game. Secondly, we suggest making a small visual representation of the Journal within the player’s HUD. There should also be a notification to the player whenever the Journal is updated.

Our final recommendation is to reduce the amount of required reading for the player. The instructions to the player should be clear and concise. For example, they should not have to
return to the same NPC multiple times to review the information and attempt to infer the
instructions for themselves.

Additional User Issues were found throughout testing and analyzed for usability. User answers
to questions regarding their game-play experience were also considered. Suggested solutions
for problems identified from these results can be found in the Recommendations section.
